INSUBRIA RADIO Club was founded on  Oct. 14th,  2007 by five friends, with the main purpose to charity thanks to our activity in Ham Radio; all proceeds will be devolved  to charity  to someone which we shall look for year by year in our area or worldwide.

Moreover we want to popularize the Euroregion “Regio Insubrica” (part of north Italy, as the area of Como, Lecco, Novara, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Varese and the Ticino in Switzerland) in order to let know their landscapes, National or natural parks, history, art and rural culture, thanks also to a cooperation with town councils, tourist bureau and cultural associations.

Ham Radio is a hobby where is possible to experiment  with electronics (building antennas or little transceivers) or to speak with people (who share the same hobby!) worldwide, also thanks to Morse code or digital modes.

We use to transmit from our home but most of us enjoin with portable activity, which means to “build up” a radio station, concerning a transceiver, antennas and power supply, in order to permit us to transmit  in the open area, also around castles, abbeys and lakes or somewhere.

Thanks to the cooperation of our Members we have defined the rules of our permanent Award “Regio Insubrica”, with the purpose to bring out the areas of this Euroregion, moreover to join all together in activation of the sites.

We are very closet to historical origin of our ancient area, so we opted for an extract of the flag called Ducale Visconteo as our logo, which was the ancient vexillum choosed by Gian Galeazzo Visconti when, on Sept.5th 1395, was raised to  in ducal rank ducale by Venceslao, emperor of Sacro Romano Impero, and he was the first one to became duke among all princes of ancient Lombardia.  tra tutti i principi dell’antica Lombardia, which represented for centuries the insubrian area.

It’s the greatest desire of ours to have a big Insubria Radio Team, with a lot of radioamateurs coming from all areas, above all from Ticino, in order to delete symbolically the border between Switzerland and Italy, moreover we look for Members who would like to share this project with us.
